With the performance of Semper Paratus, the Hayward Municipal Band honors Captain John Koster, brother of band member Kim Evans. Capt. Koster recently retired from the United States Coast Guard after serving for 30 years.
With the performance of Anchors Aweigh, the band honors Jared Reis, the son, grandson, and nephew of three members of our clarinet section. Jared has enlisted in the United States Navy and leaves for his assignment in a few days. Since his birth, Jared has attended almost every concert of the Hayward Municipal Band, has passed out programs to the audience, and has narrated musical selections. Jared's family members have a combined total of 134 years playing with the band.
